Mount Gambier had a very wet August. Many long-term locals tell me it’s like the winters they used to have.
Total rainfall for the month was 137mm on 26 days. That’s more than five inches on the old scale.
The average August rainfall is 94mm and the wettest ever is 172mm.
The days were quite mild, with an average maximum of 15.2 degrees. With all the rain about there wasn’t much frost and the average minimum was 7.2, which was 1.7 degrees higher than average.
We’ve caught up to the average yearly rainfall after a dry start and September has started damp as well.
