World Cup cricket schedule boring

Adam Gilchrist yawnsAs I wrote previously, the World Cup is really in the doldrums. Peter Roebuck summarises the problems with the tournament in The Age.

Matthew Hayden made some good comments about the problem not being with the minnows, but rather with the schedule. Only one game is played each day to accommodate television and because there are no lights at West Indian grounds.

With India and Pakistan not in the super eights there is very little television interest.

I enjoyed seeing the minnows play but the super eights have definitely been boring.

Compare this with a soccer or rugby World Cup where there are two games in a day and it’s finished much faster.

I don’t necessarily think there should be fewer teams, just more games in a shorter time.
